| Notes: | Was a naval officer for 25 years and then senior administrator in the physics department at University of British Columbia for 18 years. The following is from an e-mail sent by Chuck Denison to Liz Warner upon Jack's death. He talks about an upcoming celebration of Jack's life. "They will be showing a 54-minute DVD that I put together for him 6 years ago, "Life and Times as told by Jack Pearson". Jack spoke of all the major events of his life. During World War II, he served on the S.S. Beaver in the North Atlantic for two and a half years without incident, then requested a transfer back to Victoria because his mother was in poor health. Just 2 months later, the S.S. Beaver was torpetoed with no survivors. Jack lost all the seamen he had become close friends with. He new what survivor's remorse felt like. Jack was the lucky one who more than quadrupled his age and played with his great-grandchildren!" |
